Summer CSA Begins -all the details!

Hello  Summer produce enthusiasts,

It is time for our Summer CSA Session to begin, and we will have boxes packed for pickup as soon as this Thursday, May 21st.

This session will run May 21st through July 30th omitting the week of June 29th-July 3rd for the holiday.  This results in 9 paid weeks, although the week before the holiday we will try to provide large shares of anything that stores well.

Over this 4 week period we will have a wide variety of produce available including but not limited to peas, salad and cooking greens, broccoli, beets, radishes, turnips, kohlrabi, onions, garlic, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans, okra, cucumbers, and herbs.

Shares are $20/week, ($180 total), available to all Pittsboro Campus Faculty, Staff, and Students. Payment can be made all at once, or as two payments of $80.  Work exchange will also be accepted, valued at 4 consecutive hours per week of CSA share. –Arrangements for work shifts must be made in advance.

Produce will be harvested and ready for pickup from the outdoor cooler at the farm’s main shed between Thursdays and the following Tuesday of each week. Any shares not picked up by the following Tuesday will be redistributed.

Upon pick-up, please check the box by your name under the corresponding week of the pick-up sheet. This sheet will be hanging from the shelf above the pack table, opposite the outdoor cooler. If you have plans to take a vacation or need to skip a week during this session, please do one of the following; find a neighbor or friend who likes fresh produce & have them pick up your share for the week of your absence, or write “no” on the pick-up sheet under the week(s) you will not be able to pick up the share. This is so that we do not unnecessarily pack a share for you if you will not be taking it.
