April Showers…

Ah, rain, farmers just love to talk about the weather don’t they? In a recent review of the new book “Turn Here Sweet Corn” the author and organic farmer, Atina Diffley, talks about taking a vacation from farming for one week a year, where even talk about the weather is taboo.
Rain this weekend is great news for our crops, but not so great for those camping at Shakori Grassroots Festival. So much going on for Earth Day this weekend, it was hard to choose which events to attend.
Next weekend the celebrations of Spring continue with the Annual Piedmont Farm Tour and the CCCC 50th anniversary celebration at the Pittsboro campus. A Student Farm tour is just one of the many fun events that will be happening on Saturday, April 28th. The event begins at 8am with a 5K and will continue until 1pm, the Farm will be open for tours until 5pm.
